![]() Apple will have two platforms, both alike in dignity and functionality, in fair Verona, where we lay our scene. As the convergence continues there will come a point in the near future when the Venn Diagram will begin to look like a single circle. Today, it’s easy for Apple to say that there are no plans to unify the two platforms, but that’s not the same as saying that the Venn Diagram of iPad OS and macOS is not going to have a huge crossover in hardware and software. iPadOS applications are becoming more prevalent on macOS first through emulation on x86 based Intel Macs, latterly on ARM based Apple Silicon Macs hooks have been added to macOS to help replicate the touch input that drives the iPad that is not present on macOS and of course with the new iPad Pro the two platforms are both running the same processor. ![]() Yet Apple’s two platforms are growing closer together.
